Diagnose the Drainage Issues

Does your sump pump run like crazy even after a minimal rainfall? Do you have standing water on your property hours after the rain stops?  There are a variety of solutions that we can employ to help resolve various drainage issues. As a hardscape contactor and landscape designer we are always conscious of drainage patterns on our sites. We make sure to prioritize and correct any existing drainage issues during our builds. We will perform an inspection of your property and identify the challenges presented by the unique characteristics of the site.  This will allow us to make the best plan to resolve any drainage issues that are present.

Divert the excess Water

Often we find that downspouts are discharging adjacent to the structure of the building.  This water is able to flow down into your foundation drain tile and into your sump pump.  Rather than putting your sump pump on overtime, the solution is to extend your downspout discharges away from the building structure and install pop-up bubblers. Sump pump discharges can also be extended to areas that will better disperse the water.  Drain tiles can be installed in low-areas or around structures to capture excess water and divert it to other areas.

Fix Grading Issues

Anther common issue we find is when sidewalks, patios, or planting beds are back-pitched.  This will direct surface water towards the building rather than away from it. Being a Brick Paver Contractor that is an easy fix for us.  We can eliminate surface grading problems that interfere with the natural drainage path on on your property.  This may be the result of by-gone trees/planting beds, lack of maintenance, or poor planning in the initial construction process.  We can create drainage swales to collect surface water and direct it where it needs to go and/or restore swales that may be impeded by years of sediment build up.  In cases that present greater challenges, we can also install French drains and storm water collection systems to redirect water without negatively impacting adjacent properties.

Permeable Pavers

Permeable Paver Installations are another excellent drainage solution.  Over the past few decades these permeable systems have been implemented around the world to help alleviate drainage problems caused by impervious surfaces.  Permeable pavers allow the rainwater to flow through the paver joints, into permeable or open-graded base material, and then down into the subsoil.  This takes the added pressure off of the surrounding areas where surface water would otherwise be directed, allowing for better overall drainage on the property.  In many cities and villages permeable paver installations do not count against your total allowed lot coverage either.  All of these factors can make permeable pavers a desirable and functional option in many situations.
