Diagnose the Drainage Issues
Does your sump pump run like crazy even after a minimal rainfall? Do you have standing water on your property after an intense rain fall? We can help resolve drainage issues by implementing a variety of solutions. We can perform an inspection of your property and identify the deficiencies presented by your properties unique characteristics.
Divert the excess Water
Often we find that gutter downspouts are splashing directly at the side of the home which is cycling through the voids left next to your foundation. This rainwater finds its way into your foundation drain tile and then into your sump pump. Rather than putting your sump pump on overtime, the solution is to extend your downspout discharges away from the building structure by installing downspout extensions out to pop-up bubblers. Or if possible, connect your gutter downspout discharges directly to the Village or City storm sewers.
Fix Grading Issues
Back-pitched sidewalks, patios, or planting beds directing water towards the home instead of away from it is another common issue we find. Being a Brick Paver Contractor that is an easy fix for us. We can also remedy the hills and valleys that are either collecting water or interfering with the natural drainage path on on your property. This may be the result of by-gone trees or lack of general maintenance. We can level out and/or restore drainage swales that maybe filled with years of sediment that has washed into the lower lying areas. Some minor tweaks to a front or backyards ground elevation maybe all that is required to resolve some drainage issues. In cases that present greater challenges, we can also install french drains and storm water collection systems that can accept and redirect storm water on your property in a positive manner without negatively impacting adjacent properties.
Permeable Pavers
Permeable Paver Installations are another excellent solution. These systems have been implemented all over the world to help with drainage problems caused by impervious surfaces. Permeable pavers allow the rainwater to flow through the paver joints and down into the subsoil. This takes added water pressure off of the surrounding areas, allowing for better overall drainage on the property. In many cities and villages permeable paver installations do not count against your total allowed lot coverage either. All of these factors can make permeable pavers a desirable and funtional option for many homeowners.
