U-Cara Fireplace Build in Barrington
This Barrington Fireplace design began with the homeowner wanting to replace an old patio, add a covered structure, seat wall, outdoor TV, and fire feature. After several renderings we arrived at the final design shown here. The patio is done in Unilock Beacon Hill Smooth ‘Granite Fusion’ pavers with Copthorne ‘Basalt’ running bond border. The walls and stoops were built with Olde Quarry Smooth ‘Midnight Charcoal’ with Ledgestone ‘Grey’ Coping. The fireplace has electrical, and gas run to it to accommodate the outdoor television sitting above the Fire Gear drop in unit. The fireplace was built with U-Cara smooth ‘Dark Charcoal’ panels. The patio and wall were all sealed to enhance the colors and protect these beautiful products. Ledgelighting adorns the seat wall, stoops, and steps
Brick Paver and Landscape Design in Medinah
This new construction design was completed for the entire property in Medinah. A raised paver patio was added in the back yard with paver surfaces underneath the pavilion, and paver walkways to connect the two spaces. Another paver walkway and front stoop were added in front to tie the spaces together. Paver brick was chosen from Unilock to complement the natural stone façade of the home and pavilion. Up-lighting was used top highlight the stone and architecture of the home along with ledge lighting and path lighting to accent the brick paver installations. Unilock Bristol Valley ‘Steel Mountain’ pavers with a Copthorne ‘Basalt’ border was used on the horizontal surfaces with Olde Quarry wall in Granite with Ledgestone ‘Buff coping in the back and Umbriano ‘Winter Marvel’ coping for the front stoop and step. Plant material was chosen to add seasonal interest, a variety of foliage texture, flower colors and timing throughout the season, and to provide privacy in the back yard.

The fire pit by Fire Gear has a 14”x36” burner in a 3’x5’ enclosure and is fueled by natural gas. The grill island has a brushed granite countertop with 12” overhang on the outside to add bar seating. Low-voltage ledgelights adorn the seat wall, steps, and island to enhance the ambiance of the space at night.

The island was topped with a leathered granite counter and overhang for bar seating. The pergola was built using a kit from Heartland Pergolas with vinyl finish with a structural aluminum frame. The vinyl perlins are spaced on 6” centers to provide 75% shade coverage. A mounting kit for a ceiling fan/light was installed along with electrical for other outdoor accessories.

The outdoor kitchen island, seat wall, fire pit, steps and pillars were built with Unilock U-Cara Umbriano ‘French Gray’ wall block, with natural stone ‘Black River’ Limestone coping and pillar caps. The L-shaped outdoor kitchen contains a mini-fridge, a 5-burner gas grill head, a wi-fi smoker, 2 cabinets, and a set of drawers. The granite countertop provides plenty of space for food prep and a 12” overhang for bar seating on the back side. The 5’x3’ fire pit is equipped with a natural gas supply line to feed the Fire Gear stainless steel burner with a key-valve and cover for easy lighting and protection from the elements. Low-voltage lighting was used to set the mood at night with Ledgelights underneath the natural stone coping and path lighting to lead you into the yard.
